How can I solve paper feeding problems?

• If the paper doesn't feed properly or jams in the sheet feeder, manual feed slots, or roll paper slot, Do the following:
  Sheet Feeder:
  • If paper jams in the printer, press the  paper button to eject any jammed sheets, then open the printer cover and remove any paper jammed inside. Press the  paper button again to clear the error.
  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, then slide the edge guide against the paper.
  • Make sure the paper loaded in the sheet feeder is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.
  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.
  • Make sure you don't load more than the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

  • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Load it printable side up.
  • If the paper loaded from the sheet feeder doesn't eject fully, you may have selected the wrong paper size in the printer software. Press the  paper button, then open the printer cover and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.
  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. (If the paper is damp after printing, you may have selected the wrong media type setting in the printer software).
  Rear Manual Feed Slot:

  Roll Paper Slot:
  • If paper jams in the printer, cut off any printed roll paper or canvas media. Press and hold the  roll paper button for three seconds to back the paper out. Remove the paper from the printer, press the  paper button to clear the paper out error, and load the paper again.
  • If roll paper doesn't feed, cut the end of it straight across and uncurl the end by rolling it backwards, if necessary.
  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. (If the paper is damp after printing, you may have selected the wrong media type setting in the printer software).
  Front Manual Feed Slot:
  • If paper jams in the printer, gently pull out the paper and press the  paper button to clear the error.
  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the front manual feed slot. Reload it against the right side, then slide the edge guide against the paper.
  • Load only one piece of 1.0 to 1.3 mm thick 13 x 19-inch media in the front manual feed slot. Make sure that the trailing edge of the media is aligned with the arrows on the front manual feed slot and that there is enough space behind the printer for the media to feed through the printer.
  • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Load it printable side up.
  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. (If the paper is damp after printing, you may have selected the wrong media type setting in the printer software).
