3 - Some of the ink from the first cartridges is used to initialize the printer. Ink usage varies considerably depending on the images printed, print settings, paper type, frequency of use, temperature, and humidity. The variation may be greater when printing infrequently or predominantly with a single ink color. Ink is used for printing and printer maintenance, and all colors must be available for printing. To ensure print quality, a variable amount of ink remains after the “Replace Ink” indicator turns on.
