I'm having problems installing the software. What should I do?

  • See the suggestions below for your connection type.

    USB

Make sure you followed the software installation instructions on the Start Here sheet. If the installation fails, make sure the printer is turned on and the USB cable is securely connected at both ends.

If you're still having problems, disconnect the USB cable and uninstall any components of the printer software that may have been installed on your system. Follow the software installation instructions on the Start Here sheet again to reinstall your software.

Before reinstalling the software, check for the following:
    • Make sure the printer is not connected to your computer. (You will be prompted to connect it during the installation process.) You must connect the printer to your computer at the correct time to make sure the driver is installed correctly on your computer.
    • Make sure your system meets the requirements.
    • Make sure all applications (including any screen savers, virus protectors, and firewall software) are closed.
    • Make sure you have administrative rights or software installation privileges to your computer.
    • In Windows, make sure the USB Controller is working properly in Device Manager. See your Windows help system for details. If it's not working, contact your computer manufacturer.

    Wireless network

Before installing the software, make sure you set up your product as described on the Start Here sheet. Then follow the wireless network setup instructions in the Start Here sheet. If the installation fails, see Network Problems.

If you're still having problems, uninstall any components of the printer software that may have been installed on your system. Carefully follow the installation instructions in the Start Here sheet again to reinstall the software. (You must install the software on each computer that will print to the printer.)

Before reinstalling the software, check for the following:
    • If you're setting up the printer for the first time, make sure you have the correct SSID (wireless network name) and if security is enabled, the wireless network password (WEP key or WPA passphrase).

This information is stored in your network's router and you may be able to access it by logging onto the router from your computer and checking its setup screens. If you are unable to access the information, contact the person who set up your network or the manufacturer of your router or access point for details. (Epson will not be able to provide this information to you.) You'll need to know the SSID and wireless network password before you set up the printer.

      Note:
      • The SSID and security key or passphrase are case-sensitive. Be sure to correctly note uppercase, lowercase, and numeric/special letters.
      • The printer supports the following wireless security modes: WEP (64/128bit), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), and WPA2.
    • Make sure your system meets the requirements.
    • Make sure all applications (including any screen savers, virus protectors, and firewall software) are closed.
    • Make sure you have administrative rights or software installation privileges to your computer.

    Wired (Ethernet) network

Before installing the software, make sure you set up your product as described on the Start Here sheet. Then follow the wired (Ethernet) network setup instructions in the Start Here sheet. If the installation fails, make sure the printer is turned on and the Ethernet cable connecting your printer to the network router, access point, or hub is securely connected at both ends. Also see Network Problems for further troubleshooting information.

If you're still having problems, uninstall any components of the printer software that may have been installed on your system. Carefully follow the installation instructions in the Start Here sheet again to reinstall the software. (You must install the software on each computer that will print to the printer.)

Before reinstalling the software, check for the following:
    • Make sure your system meets the requirements.
    • Make sure all applications (including any screen savers, virus protectors, and firewall software) are closed.
    • Make sure you have administrative rights or software installation privileges to your computer.
